Good Girl Gone Rad

Join New Adelphi Theatre Supported Artist and Comedian Charlotte Cropper as she presents “Good Girl Gone Rad”, a stand-up show about reinventing and reverting yourself (and hamsters).

“Cropper is going places, make no mistake about that” – Notts Comedy Review

“thoroughly engaging presence” – Chortle

“viscerally relatable” – The Meteor

Charlotte Cropper was a buck-toothed good girl who didn’t know the meaning of “no” – a bully’s wet dream. When her braces came off, she left her small-town roots for the glittering heights of Salford and reinvented her people-pleasing personality into a “Good Girl Gone BAD”. And that plan – did not end well.

With a warm and mischievous delivery, Charlotte indulges us with her cautionary tales of wit, whimsy, and why embodying the “terrible twos” is the most rad thing you can do.

If you had to grow up a bit too fast, felt pressure to be “well-behaved” or still start to cry when someone tells you off even though you’re not 3 years old anymore – this is the show for you.

Charlotte is a Supported Artist at the New Adelphi Theatre, creator and host of CroppaChoppa’s Slumber Party, a 2021 Chortle Student Comedy Award Finalist, and an alumnus of the University of Salford. Recipient of The Dean’s Award at the Create Awards 2021, Charlotte performed as part of the University's Edinburgh Stand-Up Showcase SalFUNNI in 2019 and returned in August 2022 as the Producer of the 2022 cohort.

During the pandemic, Charlotte collaborated online with the New Adelphi Theatre to create Curio Comedy: Salford Showcase. The show was longlisted in the Funny Women Awards 2021 and featured in Heat Magazine as one of the Funny Women Content Creator Award’s Top Picks. Her third-year Practical Research Project (PRP) sketch show Edit Profile was streamed by Funny Women and broadcast by BBC Upload on BBC Manchester. Charlotte was selected as a Supported Artist of the New Adelphi Theatre in 2021, the same year she competed in the Chortle Student Comedy Award finals.

Charlotte was raised in Nottinghamshire, but in 2018 swapped sexy fox Robin Hood for less-sexy bees and moved to Manchester. It was in the back alleys of the Northern Quarter she discovered the vibrant world of stand-up and became a total nerd for all things comedy.

She performed her musical comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019 as part of the University of Salford compilation show SalFUNNI and returned in August as the Producer of SalFUNNI 2022.

During the lockdowns, Charlotte made Curio Comedy: Salford Showcase, a comedy show supported by the New Adelphi Theatre. Curio Comedy was longlisted in the Funny Women Awards 2021 and ended up being featured in Heat Magazine as one of their Funny Women Content Creator Award's Top Picks. She also had her third-year sketch show Edit Profile streamed by Funny Women and broadcast by BBC Upload on BBC Manchester.

In 2021, Charlotte reached the Chortle Student Comedy Award Finals and was selected as one of the New Adelphi Theatre's Supported Artists, granting her a scholarship to focus on her comedy performance and writing development, which led her to develop her first stand-up show, Good Girl Gone Rad.

Producing

SalFUNNI 2022 - compilation show as part of The Free Fringe Festival at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Charlotte started working on the project as the Co-Producer and Marketing Lead in February 2022 and moved to the sole Producer role in May 2022. Producing the project not only meant ensuring the 11 shows of SalFUNNI were successful but also that the trip and stay in Edinburgh with the 8 students went smoothly.

The show was a brilliant success; Charlotte had to turn away audience members at times to return to a future show because the room packed up so quickly! BAFTA-nominated comedian Nick Helm came to watch our show and recommended us to his followers.

University of Salford Press Release:

SalFUNNI 2022 was made up of 8 stand-up comedians, presenting an hour-long mixed-bill show at the Free Edinburgh Fringe Festival. From wordplay to whimsical, from dad to punk, there really is something for everyone.

This is the third cohort of aspiring comedians from the University, which has the longest-running full-time comedy degree, to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

SalFUNNI 2022’s Producer, Charlotte Cropper, said: “The cohort have been making the absolute most out of their time up in Edinburgh. Every night they've performed to a packed room, and on some nights, I have even had to turn punters away to return to a future show.

“I have witnessed each member commit to the process, and grow as an individual and as a comic as a result, which obviously makes me so proud! We've had audiences recommend our show on social media, and the group have been recognised out and about and complimented on the show by previous audience members, which has been a big confidence boost for them.

“Aside from performing every night and rewriting material to make it stronger, the group have been committing to their production and flyering roles, soaking up the festival experience, watching a variety of shows, networking with those on the local North-West circuits and meeting their comedy heroes. The best example of this is Beth’s comedy hero, BAFTA-nominated comedian Nick Helm, who came to watch and support her performance, and then promoted our show on his social media!

“I'm confident that this experience has brought a new motivation to the students, especially those whose university experience was affected badly by the pandemic, and those who just graduated and were feeling a little lost. I have heard discussions from the group of bringing a split bill show up next year, going into comedy writing, going into comedy promotion, and those who had fallen out of love with stand-up feel reignited and want to continue with performing post-fringe.”

Curio Comedy: Salford Showcase 2021
